Kanchenjunga Trekking

Kanchenjunga Trekking

Kanchenjunga, the breathtaking trekking destination of Nepal lies just at the foot of the gigantic mountain Kanchenjunga (8,586m.), third highest peak in the world. This area is full of alpine pasture lands, dense and sub-tropical jungles and low river gorge. It is located north eastern part of Nepal and is encircled by China and India. This region lets you observe different variety of culture and shifting landscape as it proceeds through terraced fields, forests of birch, rhododendron and so on.

We will come across the settlements of Brahmins and Chhetries, Rai, Limbu etc. which lets you observe cultural diversity in the eastern part of Nepal. Talking about wild lives you will spot musk deer, Himalayan bear, blue sheep etc. Besides you will be greeted by the views of Makalu, Everest, Chamlang, and Kanchenjunga. Moving ahead from the Tibetan community of Ghunsa, with its well-built wooden houses, several prayer flags and generous inhabitants, we go round the unbelievable northern edge of Jannu when approaching to the north face base camp at Pang Pema (5100m.). We set our camp here and we are accompanied by the full view of the terrific north face of Kanchenjunga, which lies above the glacier just in front of our camp in frozen blue glory.

The Kanchenjunga area was opened for trekkers in 1988. You can trek either to the South or North Kanchenjunga base camp as per you desire. The Kanchenjunga region is the restricted region for foreigners which requires entry permit. Visit Nepal-Tibet Treks manages it all for you. You will see some tea houses in the lowland, but at the high elevation you will accommodate setting up a tent. This 24- days trek will bestow an opportunity to walk along the snowline through high territory and into the terrific views of elevated peaks.
